Network Engineer

job summary:

Network Security Engineers are designated to provide overall engineering oversight of the customer's managed security infrastructure.

The Network Security Engineer understands the customer's internetworking environment and is the customer's technical advisor for current and future security technology deployment.

The Network Security Engineer utilizes consistent and sound engineering principles and industry best practices allowing the customer to rely on them for technical expertise in the implementation and evolution of their security architecture.

responsibilities:

Primary responsibility will be leading global transition and supporting global transformation initiatives for custom managed customer's security customers.

He/she collaborates with Network Engineering and Project Management to create and implement custom solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing Design Standards.

Assigned to small projects or phases of larger projects of moderate and varied complexity that may require adaptation of standardized practices or precedent.

Incumbent handles non-routine issues by following policy or precedent. Work customarily and regularly (50% of time or more) requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

Normally receives general instructions on non-routine work assignments. Requires additional instructions and frequent guidance on more complex or new assignments. Decisions are made independently.

Assigned multiple tasks or projects are generally reviewed after completion.

Contact is typically informative in nature and involves the exchange of routine or factual technical information. Typically deals with internal contacts but may also have external contacts.

Demonstrates working level of knowledge of engineering principles, of job-related functional area, of telecommunications technology and the business.

qualifications:

B.S. degree in a technical area or equivalent and 4 to 6 years of related experience including security design and implementation.

Must have experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Gateway environments that include two or more of the following technologies:

Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, ASA/Firepower, Check Point, SRX);

Enterprise Management Administration (Fortimanager, Panorama, Cisco Security Manager, Provider-1)

Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of industry trends in all areas of Information Security.

Experience working in 24 x 7 centers with complex, high transaction, high availability environments.

In depth understanding of networking technologies, eg. Cisco routers and switches.

Extensive and hands on experience with both physical and network/host level security.

Must have excellent written and verbal skills
