Role: Program Manager IV - Construction / Baggage

Duration: 12+ Months

Location: CHICAGO, IL

Travel : 40-50% travel required between Chicago, Dulles, and Denver

Responsibilities / Day-to-Day:

  • Senior PM will deliver impactful projects/programs as assigned, and serve as change agent driving adoption of PMLC across the organization.

  • Responsible to provide direction, prioritization and structure to enable efficient implementation of assigned projects and initiatives

  • Responsible for directing the implementation of strategic planning, leading and directing all aspects of major, diverse, and highly complex programs impacting the operation

  • Owns hands-on delivery of programs

  • Provides specialized technical aviation knowledge or equivalent, program management expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to facilitate the identification and management of all interdependencies and areas of risk

  • Will adhere to the Client Program Management Life Cycle framework and all policy, procedure, guidelines as applicable

  • Has discretion in making tactical decisions; provides input on strategic decisions to management as required. Decisions and achievement of results could have a significant impact on the group's overall performance. Effects could be long-lasting; expected to be creative to develop high-impact changes in processes or strategies.

responsibilities:

GENERAL key responsibilities & deliverable

  • 40% - Lead and manage projects as assigned, both tactical and strategic

  • 40% - Deliver high quality artifacts and outcome through all phases of PMLC including Envision, Design, Build, and Activate as needed to realize measurable business results

  • 10% - Coach, guide, train project team members and other PMs on EDBA, PMLC and related artifacts and deliverables

  • 10% - Assist team members and research operational and performance data to provide statistics, trends, and reporting that inform leadership steering and decision-making, and as assigned

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Undergraduate degree in business, technical, or aviation related discipline required

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • Project Management (PMI) Certification (Preferred)

  • Lean Six Sigma certification

qualifications:

PROJECT:

  • Will assist the Overall Program Manager in managing 3 major projects ($700M) in 3 hubs for baggage handling systems - airline baggage experience a plus

  • Implement initiatives and manage team to plan, design and execute airport and commercial property facility and infrastructure construction projects - NOT an IT PM, more of a Construction PM

  • Understanding of controls, system dynamics

  • Needs to have a good understanding of politics, knowing when to push and when not to, etc.

  • Experience working cross-functionally

  • Manage development, programming, planning, design, construction, schedule and budget related issues that pose challenges to the success of the project by drawing on knowledge of the planning, design, construction process knowledge and experience

  • Accountable for compliance with budget, schedule and scope of the projects per the approved business case requirements including benefits realized

  • Ensure governance of the PMLC (UA), artifacts, and guidelines - more PMBOK

  • Responsible for the utilization of any PMLC process and standards

  • Manages and audits PMLC deliverables

  • Responsible for the utilization of Project Database, PM Artifacts, workflows, forms, Project Management Guidelines, etc. by self and team

  • Use and ensure utilization of project tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle and others as defined by need

  • Ensure that projects meet defined metrics

  • Responsible and accountable for transparent, accurate, consistent project reporting (weekly, monthly and quarterly)

skills: EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years experience as a Project Manager

  • 5+ years managing / owning Programs

  • Demonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of PMBOK practices/methodologies

  • Demonstrated successful execution using SDLC, PMLC, DMAIC or DFSS methodology

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
