Safety Manager

Permanent position: EPC client is looking for a Corporate EH&S Manager to join their team and support refinery & gas processing EPC projects throughout the US. You need 15-25 years of construction site safety experience supporting large, heavy industrial plant construction projects. The ideal candidate has refinery & gas processing plant construction safety experience. Excellent pay, benefits and opportunity.

Responsibilities for the Safety Manager

  • Plan & manage the Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) program & department that supports large refinery and gas plant EPC projects in the US

  • You will be the home office conduit for all construction projects both in the proposal and execution phases of construction

  • Manage a group of Site Safety Construction Supervisors & Specialists supporting projects valued in the 50-500 million dollar range

  • You will be based out of corporate office in Houston, TX and should expect to travel to the project sites up to 50% of the time

  • Contribute to the execution of the construction risk management process, especially by identifying and assessing construction EH&S related risks and defining necessary mitigating actions

  • Contribute to the execution of pre-inquiries by preparing relevant HSE documentation and clarification of related queries

  • Train and familiarize Site Managers, Construction Managers, Commissioning Managers, Site Superintendents, Site Supervisors and Site HSE Managers on Site HSE management procedures

  • Evaluate and record the HSE statistic for construction sites within Global Construction and develop suggestions for required preventive measures

  • Prepare project specific HSE programs and procedures for construction contracts

  • Brief Site Managers on the project specific EH&S requirements and regulations

  • Check and approve sub-contractors EH&S plans and procedures before start of work

Requirements for the Safety Manager

  • 15-20+ years of experience as a Construction Site EH&S Specialist & Manager supporting heavy industrial plant construction projects

  • Specific experience managing & developing EH&S standards & guidelines from a corporate office in support of multiple field proejcts is desired

  • Ideal candidate has specific experience on refinery and gas processing plant EPC projects

  • Proven record in supporting EH&S functions on EPC projects in excess of $50 million in total installed cost

  • Bachelors Degree in Safety, Environmental, or a related area

  • Any Safety & Health certifications or degrees (GSP, ASP, CHST or CSP designation) is considered a PLUS

  • Knowledge of integration of engineering, procurement and construction activities

  • You need to be willing to travel to all of the project sites in the US
