Controller

job summary:

Excellent opportunity to work at a successful start up company in MetroBoston. This emerging company is looking to hire it's first Controller! This person will be tasked with setting up the accounting function, hiring/developing team and performing timely and accurate accounting and financial reporting.

This is a full time, direct hire role that will be an essential piece of the company's foundation and future.

responsibilities:

The position will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions and ensure GAAP compliance, as well as establish/strengthen accounting policies & procedures, implementing ERP system, and supporting their purchasing and supply chain operations. The position will also support senior management in the budgeting and financial planning process.

  • Perform fiscal closes and produce and analyze financial statements

  • Create, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures and ensure GAAP compliance

  • Prepare and review periodical reports and audits

  • Develop, monitor and analyze KPI's for executive team and investors

  • Oversee full cycle accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, fixed assets, expenses, revenue, AR, AP, payroll functions, etc

qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA required

  • 4+ years of relevant and progressive accounting experience

  • Strong communication and presentation skills required. Must be able to work closely with senior executives

  • Track record of success in smaller, startup environment is desired.

  • Ability to adapt and quickly change gears is required
