Sr. Financial Analyst

job summary:

This person will report to the VP of Finance. Responsibilities include preparation and review of general ledger entries and managing accounts receivable. Duties will include the performance of complex account analysis and the preparation of monthly close entries, profitability analysis, and account reconciliations in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This position will execute periodic special projects for senior management, assist with development and implementation of new processes, while maintaining the internal control structure, and achieving efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains financial records and ensures that transactions are properly recorded, ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.

  • Perform month end close processes to include preparation of account analysis and journal entries transactions. Identify variances and trends on both the income statement and balance sheet accounts, providing variance explanations as necessary.

  • Manage the recording of cash to include daily monitoring and analysis of the bank accounts, monitoring the fraud filter in online banking, setting up wires and transfers and completing bank reconciliations.

  • Analyze and approve employee P-Card transactions ensuring compliance with company policy and correct account coding.

  • Validates and reconciles cash receipts and refers accounts to collection agencies. May recommend improvements to accounts payable/receivable processes. Maintains and analyzes activities in the accounts payable/receivable function.

  • Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, maintains accurate records and control reports.

  • Analyze and reconcile Accounts Receivable by creating all customer invoices for funding, recording all payments, completing the A/R reconciliation and maintaining the A/R aging.

  • Maintains an awareness of the financial activities within the assigned areas of responsibility to ensure smooth operations and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recordedaccurately.

  • May conduct special financial and business-related studies and cooperates with other departments in thepreparation of analyses.

  • Prepares periodic financial statements required for external reporting.

  • Collects and analyzes financial data, ensuring that all reporting is in compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines.

  • Interact with all levels of the organization to support and implement related accounting policies and procedures.

  • Participate and assist with the internal and external audit, routine tax, and regulatory requests.

  • Special projects-other duties as assigned



  • BA/BS in Accounting preferred

  • Large company experience required

  • CPA or working toward CPA

  • At least 5+ year relevant experience in a corporate environment

  • Excellent knowledge of revenue and expense recognition rules-especially as they apply to financial asset and debt transactions.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes, internal controls, and US. GAAP.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally to all levels of employees (both technical and non-technical). Organized and efficiently manage daily workload with competing priorities.

  • Workday software experience required. Advanced Excel. In addition - any large ERP system is a huge plus.
