Operations Manager

Permanent position: A growing and very reputable cargo services company is seeking to hire a Terminal Manager. This position will be located in Toledo, Ohio area. The ideal candidate will possess terminal/operations management experience in a cargo or transportation or construction environment. Experience of driving safety and quality environment is very important. Candidates that possess driving cultural change in a union environment is also very desirable. This role comes with an excellent compensation plant commensurate with experience with a base salary ranging from $100k to $125k plus an excellent bonus opportunity and company vehicle. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities for the Operations Manager

  • Serve as the face and voice of the business unit for contract & company employees.

  • Provides effective training, support and leadership to direct reports and all terminal staff

  • Monitors performance of all employees to ensure a safe and incident free operation

  • Develops and mentors staff through ongoing performance evaluation and constructive feedback, conducts formal performance reviews on an annual basis

  • Manages a union environment and participate in bargaining unit negotiations

  • Ensures maximum asset utilization through adequate staffing and proper equipment maintenance

  • Participates in forecasting terminal performance, monitors performance and takes corrective action to meet expense and financial forecast

  • Review operating metrics with staff to maintain targets

  • Promotes and develops safe work behaviors through effective communication, implementation and follow up of the company's safety programs and objectives

Requirements for the Operations Manager

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent experience is acceptable

  • Experience managing in a union environment and a track record for driving cultural change in a union environment

  • Hands on leader with a focus of safety and quality

  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US
