Systems Engineering Manager

Permanent position: Seeking Technology System Design Manager that can sit in the office in either Albany, New York, Washington, D.C., or Boston, Massachusetts. This person will work collaboratively in a cross-office/cross-discipline environment, leading the production of engineering drawings and other building design project documentation for the technology systems group.They are responsible for firm-wide technical leadership and mentorship of technology engineering staff and advancing the overall technical quality of work product. They are also charged with advancing the technology practice by marketing and furthering our exposure to internal and external clients.

Responsibilities for the Systems Engineering Manager

  • Marketing technology to internal and external clients

  • Supports multiple design teams (projects) while managing overlapping schedules

  • Responsible for spatial coordination between architecture and other engineering systems

  • Coordinates and prepares schematic design, design development, and construction documents with emphasis on telecom/data requirements

  • Mentors less-experienced designers

Requirements for the Systems Engineering Manager

  • 10+ years in the design and specification of telecommunication systems

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or some type of Engineering Technology degree

  • Experience working on large scale commercial projects, preferably in sectors of government buildings, healthcare, higher education, or science & technology

  • Understanding of inside-plant (ISP) and outside-plant (OSP) telecommunications system design

  • Deep knowledge of telecommunication codes and standards

  • Experience designing adjacent technology disciplines such as A/V & security required

  • Knowledge of BIM platform and designing in Revit

  • BICSI RCDD certification
