Senior Category Development Manager

job summary:

The Senior Category Development Manager is responsible for developing fact-based sales presentations with the goal of growing the brands and expanding the category in the US.

responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze category, competitive trends and consumer market data via Nielsen, Diver and other propriety and syndicated data sources to identify business opportunities and develop category development plans

  • Support Chain Team Sales leads with fact-based Nielsen category selling stories

  • Support Innovation Director & Brand Managers with strategic Route-to-Market category strategy for new brands and existing brand line extensions

  • Support Brand Managers with annual Situation Assessment and deep dive on the Category in the US

  • Serve as the industry leader in providing category management recommendations to meet the needs of Distributor & Retail partners

  • Work with Directors of Sales to identity category development KPIs and monitors actual performance

  • Collaborate with Chain Teams to drive profitable category growth for top OFF Premise Chains through jointly developed goals and strategies and proper category execution

  • Partner with Distributor Category Managers to optimize Brand RTM and objective-based category sales stories

  • Develop & present category insights and opportunities to the retailer / chain buyers

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of category performance, trends, and competitive assortment and provide quarterly updates to Directors of Sales and Marketing Team

  • Develop account-specific category management recommendations including shelf set assortment and planograms using the Nielsen Assortment & Space Optimization study

  • Assist in piloting, implementation and maintenance of account-specific category management initiatives

  • Work with Directors of Sales to measure account-specific category management plan action steps through consistent tracking and scorecards

  • Turn category insights into actionable plans to help drive BTG/BTB growth

  • Business Analytics: support Sales with standardized quarterly Nielsen & Diver reports to monitor business performance trends

  • Develop fact-based category sales pitches & sell sheets to support new item placement and floor displays to drive brand growth and velocity

qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree, MBA a plus

  • 5+ years of relevant Category Management experience, preferably in CPG or Beverage Alcohol

  • Experience in translating Nielsen category & competitive brand performance trends into fact-based selling stories

  • Knowledge of retail category management concepts, brand & SKU assortment and planograms

  • Multi-tasking and working cross-functionally with Sales & Marketing

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook as well as knowledge of Diver
